2 day Paediatric First Aid Syllabus
This course meets and exceeds the requirements laid down by Ofsted, EYFS. It is for people needing a 2 day, 12 contact hours First Aid course for adult, infant and child. It will be of particular interest to teachers, childminders, crèche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone else who has a responsibility for a childs welfare whilst in your care.
This course is taught as a Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) and includes a First Aid Manual and a First Aid training pack
Duration: This course covers at least 12 hours of training and is usually run over 2 days.
We recommend you bring your lunch with you as local shops are a 10/15 walk away from the venue.

Course content includes:
- The roles and responsibilities of a First Aider
- Priorities of First Aid
- First Aid Kits
- Treatment of an unconscious casualty who is breathing – recovery position
- Treatment of an unconscious casualty who is not breathing – CPR and AED
- Fitting and seizures
- Anaphylactic shock and the use of an Auto injector pen
- Shock and Bleeding
- Burns and scalds
- Head injuries, concussion, compression & skull fracture
- Breaks, soft tissue injuries & dislocations
- Bites and Stings
- Extremes of heat
- Extremes of cold
- Febrile Convulsions
- Spinal Injuries
- Foreign bodies in ears, nose and eyes
- Removing Splitiners
- Sickle Cell
Assessment: Continuous assessment by trainer, practical assessments to cover wound management, care of an unconscious casualty, CPR and a multiple choice paper (if you have chosen the RQF externally assessed certificate)
Certification: Upon completion of this course, students will receive a standard First Aid Training Certificate or a RQF certificate valid for 3 years.
In order to retain their First Aid qualification, students will need to attend another 12 hour course and receive certification for a further 3 Years.
The HSE strongly recommends that all First Aiders complete an annual refresher course to keep their skills up to date and in line with any changes in First Aid procedures.
We offer refresher courses to keep your knowledge up to date.
Timings: Please note that the timings are 9am – 3:30pm on both days, this is to allow for 6 hrs of teaching on both the days (with breaks built in).

Payment: Payments are made on-line in advance of the event taking place. If you attend the event without having booked and paid for the place you may be turned away from the event. It may be possible to make an online payment on arrival at the event to gain entry where places are available, but this facility cannot be guaranteed.
Timekeeping: Prompt time keeping is essential in ensuring a professional learning environment. Late-comers may be refused admission to the course/training event where entry may be detrimental to the learning of others.
Cancellation: If you are no longer able to attend the course, please notify us by email STEEPcontact@gmail.com, giving us at least 7 days notice. If you fail to do this your full course fee will be retained. In the event the organiser has to cancel or reschedule the event, your booking will be transferred to the next available date or a full refund provided.
Refund policy: Refunds will only be given if the attendee gives the required notice of 7 days for non-attendance. After this time no refunds will be given.
